Janne Eraker and Juliana Venter with If You Find Yourself Falling, Dive - the fifth of 10 singles from the groundbreaking tap dance album Movements for Listening!
Get ready for some turbulence! Powerhouse Juliana Venter spits out rhythms and sounds like there’s no limit, and tap dancer Janne Eraker invests her whole body in the battle. Hear them bounce off of each other in a duet of dynamic explosions, rough edges and riffing rhythms. Voice and feet, our bodies’ own instruments. It’s all improvised!
Juliana Venter is a voice artist who was trained as an opera singer from childhood on. She’s known for her heartfelt voice, broad palette and groundbreaking and sometimes extreme expression. The press calls her “the queen of the South African avant-garde”, but she’s at home in opera, contemporary music, folk music, jazz, noise and free improvisation as well. She was the front figure of The Mud Ensemble from Johannesburg, and reached cult status as a pioneer in avant-garde music in South Africa in the 90s. The Mud Ensemble was also known for its work against apartheid. Venter composes for large and original ensembles, while also making music for her own voice and the various collaborations she has. Also, she has a vast experience in cross-genre performance concerts and music theater performances, and she works as a film and theater actress.
Daan Botlek is a visual artist from the Netherlands. He created the cover of the double vinyl record and the ten digital singles. These are all unique murals made in his atelier in Rotterdam, as a part of his artistic project called Primitive Practice.
Janne Eraker is a tap dancer based in Norway. She has roots in many places; born in Germany, raised in Norway, educated and started a family in the Netherlands. Also her dancing has many roots, starting with Balkan folk dances, swinging by competition dancing, musicals, contemporary and modern dance, and now fermenting all of it into her tap dancing. Eraker is fascinated by the sound of tap dance, and has worked a long time to create all kinds of music with it. Her work spans from improvised concerts to choreographed dance pieces, collaborating with a wide range of artists. In 2022 she released her first album Gol Variations with the trio One Small Step. As a performer she also dances in the Sebastian Weber Dance Company in Germany.

This is some subtle Click'n'Cuts Dub tinged Electronica with soft Drone pads that drift in the organic background soundscapes produced by a true master.
This release and the "Movement" release should be bought together for full listening pleasure.
