In this duo's take on the old jazz tune Cute, Eraker is dancing the part of the drummer while Skinner on piano delivers everything else, and their interaction moves along at whirlwind speed! The groove is an obscure, but swinging 5/4, and if you listen closely you’ll recognize some brush sounding moves in the tap dance, a reference to what Cute is originally famous for. The tune is over so quickly that you might need to hear it back a couple of times before you can get into it. In fact, this was recorded when the recording session was officially already over, just wondering “how fast can we go?”...
David Arthur Skinner is a jazz pianist, bandleader and composer, who specialises in swing jazz and stride piano. He has released three solo piano albums based on these genres, namely Diagonal Jazz (2013), Cubistic Boogie (2015) and Skinner plays Skinner (2017), in addition to the duo album Look Both Ways (2022) with the drummer Magnus Eide. Skinner is interested in atypical time signatures, as well as other ways to tease and confuse his audience. He has absolute control over the groove, all the while overlaying it with asymmetrical melodies and polyrhythms. Skinner also performs (usually in a regular four beats to the bar) at his own monthly jazz club “Café Society Oslo”, where the best swing dancers in town gather to dance to the music.
Daan Botlek is a visual artist from the Netherlands. He created the cover of the double vinyl record and the ten digital singles. These are all unique murals made in his atelier in Rotterdam, as a part of his artistic project called Primitive Practice.
Janne Eraker is a tap dancer based in Norway. She has roots in many places; born in Germany, raised in Norway, educated and started a family in the Netherlands. Also her dancing has many roots, starting with Balkan folk dances, swinging by competition dancing, musicals, contemporary and modern dance, and now fermenting all of it into her tap dancing. Eraker is fascinated by the sound of tap dance, and has worked a long time to create all kinds of music with it. Her work spans from improvised concerts to choreographed dance pieces, collaborating with a wide range of artists. In 2022 she released her first album Gol Variations with the trio One Small Step. As a performer she also dances in the Sebastian Weber Dance Company in Germany.

This is some subtle Click'n'Cuts Dub tinged Electronica with soft Drone pads that drift in the organic background soundscapes produced by a true master.
