Janne Eraker and Michaela Antalová with Two Miniatures for Tap Dance and Drums - the fourth of 10 singles from the groundbreaking tap dance album Movements for Listening!
Michaela and Janne have several things in common. They love rolling rhythms, small sounds and acutely sensitive listening. They are also mothers, and both have extended their arsenal with play-drums and tiny instruments. The two improvisations were recorded in Urban Sound Studios, with a focus on extreme closeness to the source, and a sort of camouflaging similarity between the two players. Listen carefully, on good speakers, and zoom in on the shoes and the sticks. On this fourth single you’ll be as close to the tap dance as never before!
Michaela Antalová is a Slovak drummer living in Oslo, traveling worldwide to perform solo concerts and to play with different projects. Michaela is an active composer and writes for both bands, larger ensembles and percussionists. Her music contains complex textures arranged with different orchestrations that change gradually with nuances. Leading her own ensemble Mikoo and touring with her solo drum performances, Michaela drifts through genres playing a variety of percussion, hand drums and drum kit. She is occupied by exploring improvisation in many settings and using this experience in baroque, world, singer-songwriter and experimental music.
Daan Botlek is a visual artist from the Netherlands. He created the cover of the double vinyl record and the ten digital singles. These are all unique murals made in his atelier in Rotterdam, as a part of his artistic project called Primitive Practice.
Janne Eraker is a tap dancer based in Norway. She has roots in many places; born in Germany, raised in Norway, educated and started a family in the Netherlands. Also her dancing has many roots, starting with Balkan folk dances, swinging by competition dancing, musicals, contemporary and modern dance, and now fermenting all of it into her tap dancing. Eraker is fascinated by the sound of tap dance, and has worked a long time to create all kinds of music with it. Her work spans from improvised concerts to choreographed dance pieces, collaborating with a wide range of artists. In 2022 she released her first album Gol Variations with the trio One Small Step. As a performer she also dances in the Sebastian Weber Dance Company in Germany.

This is some subtle Click'n'Cuts Dub tinged Electronica with soft Drone pads that drift in the organic background soundscapes produced by a true master.
This release and the "Movement" release should be bought together for full listening pleasure.
